John and his team are top notch. From our first meeting I was confident in him and about the service I could expect. I was not disappointed! A water leak caused fairly significant damage to my kitchen, requiring removing and rebuilding a cabinet. Things happened as scheduled and quality was unmatched. Dealings with everyone involved was pleasant. John is knowledgeable, honest, and diplomatic. He's an expert at coordinating the trades people involved in the repair to keep the project moving forward. Kaylee was a delight to work with too. She responded in a timely manner with clear answers and explanations and she too, is diplomatic dealing with various parties involved in the process. I highly recommend The Great Tarheel Restoration Company.
We had a refrigerator leak that damaged the floor under our kitchen tile and the hallway hardwood behind the refrigerator. We had no idea whom we should call. GTR was recommended to us by our insurance company. John the owner took quick charge and got his crew to pull up the tile and hardwood above the wet areas. That happened in mid July. It took a couple of weeks to dry out the wet areas. Because the original tile was no longer available, and there were no breaking points in the hardwood layout, the restoration job involved replacing all of the tile in our kitchen, breakfast nook, pantry and laundry, as well as refinishing the hardwood in the living room, dining room, entryway, office and master bedroom. This was a massive undertaking, and required some careful planning to store furniture in the few undisturbed rooms and give us someplace to sleep while the work was being done. John worked with us to arrange for the hardwood to be refinished while we left town for a week long trip to visit our daughter. The repair work was finished in mid September. Here is what we found when we returned. The tile was installed perfectly on a herringbone pattern aligned nicely around the kitchen cabinets and multiple doorways. The areas where the hardwood was replaced were unnoticeable, previous spots where the original hardwood installer used inappropriate wood filler were gone, the wood grain was not raised by the sanding process, and the polyurethane coat had no noticeable dust in the finish. Both the tile and the hardwood were replaced in much better condition than the original. Both my insurance company and GTR made the process as easy as I could imagine. We had some inconvenience in driving around to choose new tile, going out to eat while the kitchen tile was replaced, and going away while the polyurethane fumes were at their height. But the end result was far better than we hoped. GTR is the best, an so is my insurance company for recommending them.
John is very good to work with and did a great job managing our water damage restoration project. Would highly recommend Great Tarheel and would use them again.
They did a great job after we had a pipe burst due to freezing weather. The house looks like nothing ever happened. Grateful they were able to get into the house quickly to mitigate any additional water damage. I would recommend them to friends and family if they needed their services.
I cannot thank enough John and his crew for the great work they did at my house. They handled everything to fix my leak. Walls, floor, painting, plumbing. John is really easy to work with. His crew was very professional. The work quality is superb and was done quickly. I highly recommend them.
